This department encompasses five libraries. It curates and manages a collection of over 1 million items including books, reference works, periodicals, discs, cassettes, scores, films, videos, DVDs as well as maps, plans and aerial photos.

Free-loan access regulations

Item types and loan periods

Free-loan access lets you sign out a maximum of 30 items (books only) as follows:

Renewals

Each document is automatically renewed 10 times except in the following cases: reservation of the document by another user, recall of the document by a library or expiry of the user file.

Late items

Fine if the item is reserved by another user.

After a delay of 40 days, a document is considered lost. The following fees will be indicated in the user's file: 20 late fee + document replacement cost + $30 administration fee. An official invoice will be issued 90 days after the due date.

Damage or loss

If a document is damaged or lost, the following charges will be indicated in the user's file: document replacement cost + $30 administration fee.

Item returns

Items can be returned during operating hours at the libraries’ circulation desks. A return slot is available by the entrance of each library. When library buildings are closed, materials can be dropped off in the return slot located in front of the main entrance of the Georges-Cabana building.
